Would you Bet when you're on a roll? 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 1
I sat down at a table this afternoon, I play the first 3 hand I am dealt and I win them all.

Every card just seems to improve my hand, I am feeling so lucky I can't believe it. Then I get 6 2 offsuit, and I start to click the raise button. Then I fold. the flop comes 6 2 6, giving me a full house. The turn is a 5, giving another person at the table a straight, and someone else had A 6 so they had 3 of a kind with top kicker. If I would have played that hand I would have cleaned up big time.

I really feel like when I start getting cards like that, I should just play every hand until they stop, does this happen with anyone else?

I understand what you mean, but dude, if you're playing for real money, you have to know when to stop. If you're playing for play money, you have to realize that it is completely different with real money. When you are playing for real, even if the stakes are .01/.02, this is the real deal. People will fold if they even think for a second that you have a better hand. So, you're better off playing crazy hands, earning a rep as a aggressive player, and then when you get a great hand, you bet a bit above normal, and people think you have nothing, and you get the pot. It's a simple method, but it's not the best.

When you are on a roll and feeling confident, it can cause you to go on "tilt". Being on tilt is when your emotions cause you to play differently than you normally would, and does not only happen when you loose a large pot. Many beginners don't realise this and are not aware they are on tilt after winning many pots in a row.

You should not keep on playing every hand just because you are on a streak. You need to control your emotions and play the cards and continue adapting to the table.

However, it may sometimes be correct to play more hands when you are on a streak becuase of your table image. Other players may become irritated at you winning streak, so may become more determined to "take you down" by winning a pot thus calling when they should fold. Basically, you need to see how your winning streak effects how other players perceive your poker style, and adapt accordingly.

I think I would bet if I was on a roll, even with real money, but I would give myself a limit. For example, I have a limit now on how much I spend on scratch-off lottery tickets. I will only spend the ones I have on me to begin with, which is usually no more than $5-$7. If I win anything on them, I will spend no more than $10 and keep the rest. The reason I set this limit is bc I won $1,000 on a $5 scratch-off once, then went on a binge and spent $50. I regretted that afterwards, so I gave myself a limit.

Anyway, so, yeah, but I would give myself a limit that way I don't lose all that I have won.

Yep, I've been on those sort of rolls before as well, but you must remmeber that each hand is it's on "animal", sort to speak. I'm a tight player that likes to pick my spots, so maybe being aggressive like that works better for you
