PokerStars is one of the best poker rooms online. First, U.S. citizens are still accepted; this is one count on this site's favor. It also has excellent software, games, incentives, and professional customer service. Moreover, PokerStars has high traffic and therefore big prize pools. Here are some specific reasons why PokerStars is one of my top pick poker sites.

Gaming Software: Functions and Features

PokerStars software is very functional and incorporates the features that online poker players usually find useful. For instance, PokerStars can give you a comprehensive hand history review for past games. More importantly, you can gain instantaneous access to your past hands on your current table through the Instant Hand History tool. Furthermore, you can get your statistics for past games and for the current table.

At PokerStars, you can put thoughts on paper through the notepad functionality; you can converse with the other players on your table though the chat window; and you can change the size of your table window to accommodate more table displays.

To ensure your pleasant poker gaming experience, PokerStars has made their gaming environment fully customizable. You can upload your own picture (or whatever image you prefer) to become your online avatar. You can also choose from among the themes to for a 'Shiny,' 'Renaissance,' or any other look from among the available options.

Games vary, including the most popular Texas Hold'em, Omaha Poker and its variants, 7-Card Stud Poker and its variants, and much more. There are fixed-limit, pot-limit and no-limit tables. The software runs fast and if you want even faster games, you can choose to join only 'fast' tables. Selecting the table to join is easy through filtering from the main lobby.

Bonus and Promotions

PokerStars currently offers a bonus of a maximum of $50 after the initial deposit. You can cash this amount out after attaining the required number of Frequent Player Points (FPP) for the bonus amount that you are aiming for. There are also Reload bonus points from time to time.

One other incentive that keeps players coming back to PokerStars is the FPP, awarded for every real money hand where the house rakes. PokerStars also classifies its members into VIP tiers and the higher tiers enjoy even more incentives. Right now, PokerStars gives you a chance to be part of the World Series of Poker event through its qualifying tournaments (WSOP satellites).

Special Games and Tournaments

PokerStars offers its players many tournaments. There are daily tournaments: some of these tournaments are played for cash and the prize money usually varies based on the number of players and the buy in; some tournaments are mere qualifying tournaments for bigger events like the PCA, the WPT, and the WSOP among others. Weekly tournaments include the $1,000,000 Guaranteed for which qualifying tournaments are held throughout the week. If you do not want to risk your own money for a tournament, then you can play at any of the freerolls available.

I like this website because you can find a lot of players especially at night when I like to play online... there is a potential on income making since you can find a lot of fishes at the low stakes tables.

The only think I do not like is the graphics of both the website and the software... I'm sure the have the money to hire a good designer but I guess they like that look. Either way I like the site both for the tournaments and the number of players so I give it a thumb up!
