When you bluff do you do it with good hands that dont hit or do you play garbage? Personally I never play garbage and I'll only bluff if I have a good hand that just didnt hit. However I know a bunch of people in my home games that are constantly playing with garbage and throwing around bluffs, Ive even seen a few of them take hands down and then show there garbage.

Bluffing is hard to do. I usually like to bluff with a good hand that doesn't hit. I need to practice bluffing with garbage and try and get that ice water in my veins.

Bluffing is an important aspect of poker, but I find most beginners bluff too much. For example in a MTT tourney with about 100 players I will probably only bluff about twice in the whole tourney (not including the final table when the game becomes short-handed).

When I do bluff, it is usually a semi-bluff. That is, I have outs so that I can make the best hand if my opponent calls me, but I hope my opponent folds so I take down the pot straight away.

Simice pretty much summed it up for me. I'm very selective about when and who I bluff against, but usually do it knowing that I have outs in case I get called. The worst thing is to get caught bluffing with your pants down (with absolute garbage hand)

I play pretty tight and will fold out alot on purpose to give the impression to the other players that when I bet big, I MUST have something good

Since I'm such a beginner, I don't really know when to bluff. I do the same thing as whalewager. I'll fold a lot (more bc I don't know good hands very well), then bet really big when I have something good or if I think that the others don't have anything good.
