One of the most frequent questions we get here at 4TexasHoldem.com is for more information about the answers to past survey questions. Each time a new survey is posted on our web site (located on the right-hand side of the page), you will find the results of the previous questions in the polls archive section on our site. A few of the past surveys are discussed in more detail below. b>Question
If you hold Jh10h and the community cards are 9d8h3hAs, how many outs do you have to make the best hand on the river?

Answer
The correct answer is 6. Although you have both an open-end straight draw and a flush draw, there is no heart that can give you a straight flush. Therefore, since you do not have the Ace of hearts, it is not possible for you to have the "nut flush." On the other hand, you can make the best hand if you hit your straight with a card that is not a heart. If the river card is a Queen or 7 (that is not a heart), you will make your straight and have the best possible hand.

The most selected answer for this question was 17. People often think that an open-end straight draw (8 outs) plus a flush draw (9 outs) will give you a total of 17 outs. However, you must keep in mind that 2 of the straight draw outs will be of the flush suit leaving you with only 15 total outs. Although a flush will not give you "the nuts," you can still consider 15 outs when determining your pot odds if you do not think your opponent is on a higher flush draw.

This was a tough question with less than 10% of people answering correctly.

Question
If you hold Ac6c and the community cards are Kc7c3h7d, how many outs do you have to make the best hand on the river?

Answer
The correct answer is 0. These are the tricky situations that can win you a lot of money playing Texas Hold'em. Many people think a flush is an unbeatable hand, but a player with a full house will be happy to clean you out. With two 7s already on the board, there is no card that can give you the best hand. After the turn, the best possible hand is four 7s and only a King on the river could change that.

More than 50% of the people responding selected 9 as their answer. This is the number of outs that will give you the best possible flush, but not the best hand. Once again, just under 10% correctly answered the question by selecting 0.

Question
If you hold Kc10d and the community cards are Ah3d7hQc, how many outs do you have to make the best hand on the river?

Answer
The correct answer is 3. At first glance, you may be thinking that any of the four 10s would give you the best hand when you make your straight. Keep in mind that the 10 of hearts gives someone the chance to beat you with a flush. A 10 that is not a heart will give you the top straight and the best hand.

More than 50% of the people responding selected 4 outs as their answer, with only 20% of the people correctly selecting 3.

When playing Texas Holdem, always be aware of the strength of your hand and know what possible hands can someone be holding that can beat you. Always thinking in this fashion will keep you from being surprised when someone turns over a full house to steal the pot away from your Ace-high flush.
