As in all games, No-Limit Texas Holdem holds some special moves. These moves make for a better game play for you – not to mention an unpleasant surprise to your opponents. It is only expected of you, therefore, that you know and practice these special moves so as to ensure yourself better chances.

Remember not to let yourself be confined to the ordinary moves that promise nothing. A true battle of wits and luck, the game of poker is. If you get trapped within the expected and routine, you shall forever remain a prey to more imaginative and creative players.

Semi-Bluffing

Bluffing in poker, as you know, is the move that refers to making your opponents quit on the belief that you have the best hand even though you actually have a lousy one. Semi-bluffing refers to a poker strategy where you make your opponents believe that you have a hand worth fighting for (you may even make them believe that you have winning cards) when in fact, you are still waiting for that card which will make it so.

In this case, you are not actually doing a pure bluff. You do have a chance of forming a great hand – several in fact for your cards can form different combinations depending on the board cards. While you are waiting, though, you make your opponents believe that you have a great card now. This way, just in case you don’t get your draw, you can still end up being the winner.

Getting a Peek without Paying

In poker, you need to pay before you can see the flop, the turn and the river. However, this is not always true. A cunning player can make his opponents give him a free peek without having any need to pay.

For instance, if you are the button and the flop has been revealed, you actually have the option of getting a free peek at the turn card. You should raise after you see the flop. Doing so will make your opponents doubt the strength of their cards and become wary of yours. Thus, they are likely to pass on placing a bet so they could see how you would play later on.

If the players who came before you checked, you now gain options. Thus, if the turn yields your desired card, you can place a bet. If the turn card is a disappointment, you can check (so you won’t have to pay up).
